Amazon, a US-based company that has made a name for itself in the country's e-commerce market, will now supply alcohol to the household. Amazon will ship home-made liquor to consumers online and has already obtained an additional permit in
West Bengal.
West Bengal State Beverages Corp. has approved liquor supply online. Thus, Amazon will soon be able to deliver consumer booked liquor in West Bengal.
Not only Amazon but also BigBasket, China-based Alibaba Investment, has obtained permission to serve liquor in the state. West Bengal has a population of about 9 crores and is, by comparison, the fourth largest state in the country.
But neither Amazon nor BigBaskett has given any information on when liquor sales will begin in the state. Recently, Swiggy has also been allowed to serve liquor at home in Jharkhand.
